Halloween H20
Twenty years after the original Halloween was produced comes the Halloween H20: Twenty years later. The film was released on August 5, 1998. This is the seventh installment of the Halloween series and the direct sequel of Halloween II.
The director of the film was Steve Miner and like the most previous movie theme, it's a slasher film. The cast of characters are Jamie Lee Curtis, Josh Hartnett, and Michelle Williams. The story centers to the post-traumatic life of Laurie Strode who's living in fear with all the attempted killing of her murderous brother.
Marion Chambers, Dr. Loomis's colleague found out after her return to her house on October 29, 1998 that it was broken. She called first the attention of her two teenage neighbors before entering and let them know that her house was ransacked by somebody. One of the teen searched the house but found nothing so Marion waited for the police to arrive alone in her house.
She then discovered that her file on Laurie Strode is missing and finds that someone is in the house. She runs back to her neighbor's house only to find out that the teenagers were murdered. She was attacked by Michael Myers and following a short argument she was killed. The killer leaved with Laurie Strode file on him.
On Halloween, Laurie Strode faked her death and she now lives under the name Keri Tate with apparently having a perfect life with his son, boyfriend, and a great career. With all the life she had, she's far from being happy because her life twenty years back with all the tragedy haunted her. The tragic events from the previous 20 years still haunt her affecting her capability as parent.
Up to that time, she's living with endless fear and believes that her brother was still alive. She is true because Michael find her using the file and following her. The story goes to more life to death attacks and encounters until at the end Laurie had finally killed Michael.
The budget of the film was $17 million and its revenue grossed over $55 million in the US box office. It is also the highest grossing in the original Halloween series in terms of total gross. On Halloween back in 1963, Michael Myers murdered his little sister, Judith. In 1978, he broke out and out of her mind to kill his other sister, Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis.
He killed all of her family and friends, but she escaped. And a few years later, she faked her own death so he couldn't find her. But in 1998, Michael has made his returned and found all the legal papers he needs to find her. He looked and tracks her down to a little private school where she has had a new name with her son, John played by Josh Hartnett. And now, Laurie must do it to stop Michael and what she should have done a long long time ago and finally decided to hunt down the evil for one last time.
This is the 7th movie in this horror movie series and a 20th anniversary follow-up to the classic John Carpenter's Halloween 1978, arguably the most scary and influential horror film of the '70s, a film that set the level and standard of horror for the next 2 decades and catapulted and level up the career of Jamie Lee Curtis.
Some newspaper clippings review the killings and murders 20 years earlier by a man named Michael Myers, including 1 stating that Laurie Strode died in a bad car accident. Actually, she faked her own death to hide from Michael, changed her own name, and became a headmistress at a Southern California boarding school attended by her son, teen John played by Josh Hartnett.
On eve Halloween, with most of the school members, staff and students away on a Yosemite camping trip, John plans a nice and romantic evening with several of his friends and classmates. His girlfriend, Molly played by Michelle Williams; Charlie portrayed by Adam Hann-Byrd; and Sarah played by Jodi Lyn O'Keefe.
Laurie, meanwhile, has her own romantic date with school counselor Will portrayed by Adam Arkin; on their date, she reveals some of the dark secrets of her past life to Will. Meanwhile, masked Michael Myers evades security guard Ronny played by LL Cool J and the dark nightmares begin anew.
