Even the main title Halloween 4- The Return of Michael Myers has made the film franchise objective unmistakably very clear. Reportedly John Carpenter wrote a clear treatment for this 4th installment which much more focuses on the haunting legacy Michael held over Haddonfield, which had cancelled and banned the holiday Halloween because of the extreme bloodshed left in his wake.

Yet even at the start, Halloween 4 was under extreme and enormous pressure in production: McElroy had less than 2 weeks to write the entire movie script for the film to avoid film shutdown in the upcoming Writers Guild strike. A self-proclaimed fan of the first 2 Halloween movie, McElroy worked feverishly to make and develop a new-yet-related storyline which is involving Michael Myers, and he completed the script in a amazing mere 11 days.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is a released film in 1988, a horror film and the 3rd sequel of the Halloween movie series, directed by Dwight H. Little and also written by Alan B. McElroy. The central and main plot focuses on Michael Myers George P. Wilbur awakening from a deep coma, 10 years after his bloody 1978 killing spree in Haddonfield, Illinois, and returning to his home to kill his niece Jamie Lloyd played by Danielle Harris, the daughter of Laurie Strode, with Dr. Sam Loomis played by Donald Pleasence once more pursuing him.

As the main title suggests, the fourth installment marks the comeback and return of Michael Myers, the central villain of Halloween and Halloween II, due to his disappearance and absence in Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Initially, John Carpenter and co-made and producer Debra Hill retired the Myers plot series outline after the second installment of the franchise, intending to feature a new Halloween-related movie every sequel, of which Halloween III would be the 1st. However, due to the lack of box office success of the 3rd film, Halloween 4 reintroduced a the main character and Myers-related plot, and he has still remained in the series ever since.
